RevOps Consulting
Advisory work on revenue operations strategy: current-state assessment, target operating model, a sequenced roadmap, and the measurement to evaluate it.
Advice with a roadmap attached
Consulting produces decisions and a sequence, not a report describing what the client already knows.
The engagement establishes the current state from measurement, defines the target operating model, and sequences the work between them by benefit against effort and dependency.
It also defines how progress will be measured, because a roadmap without measurement cannot be evaluated after the fact.
The shape of the engagement
Phases, their overlaps, and the point at which each is accepted. Durations are scoped per engagement; the sequence and the acceptance points hold.

Our work on this
Published research and engagements covering the same subject, so the approach described above can be read at length rather than taken on description.
The Foundations Stack of Revenue Operations
The six analytical layers a revenue operation is right or wrong about, and the traceability that connects a metric to the decision it exists to serve.

Where the function came from, what is genuinely new about it, and what was inherited from sales operations and the ERP era.

The conditions a consulting engagement is generally hired to correct, and what distinguishes them from tooling problems.

The argument underneath our approach: revenue systems are configured rather than bought.

Each item below is a document or an artefact the client keeps, not an activity performed.
Current-state assessment
The operating model, systems and data as they are, established by measurement and interview rather than assertion.
Target operating model
Objects, process boundaries, ownership and the reporting the organisation requires.
Sequenced roadmap
The work between the two, ordered by benefit against effort with dependencies identified.
Measurement definition
The KPIs, the data feeding each, and the calculation method, so progress can be evaluated consistently.
What this includes
How it runs
Assessment
Current systems, process and data are measured, and stakeholders in each function are interviewed.
Target definition
The operating model the organisation requires is defined, including ownership and reporting.
Gap and sequence
The distance between current and target is stated as discrete work, ordered by benefit against effort with dependencies identified.
Measurement definition
KPIs are defined with their data sources and calculation methods so progress is evaluable.
Advisory review
Progress against the roadmap is reviewed on an agreed cadence and the sequence is revised as conditions change.
Milestones
| Milestone | Accepted when |
|---|---|
| Assessment complete | Current state established by measurement and interview. |
| Target agreed | Operating model, ownership and reporting defined and approved. |
| Roadmap approved | Work sequenced with dependencies and owners identified. |
| Measurement published | KPIs defined with data sources and calculation methods. |
| Review cadence running | Progress reviewed against the roadmap on the agreed schedule. |
Ways of working
Consulting is advisory by nature: the engagement produces decisions and documents that the client's team executes, with implementation support available separately where capacity is the constraint. The client provides access to stakeholders in each revenue function and a sponsor able to approve the target operating model.
The engagement plan, the hour budget, the delivery spectrum and the weekly, monthly and quarterly cadence are common to every service and are set out in how we work.
Common questions
RevOps Consulting FAQ
An audit is a fixed-scope assessment producing findings and a remediation sequence. Consulting continues past the assessment into defining the target operating model and advising through execution.
Assessment and roadmap are typically a defined project; advisory support afterwards runs on a cadence agreed with the client and is reviewed at intervals rather than assumed indefinite.
Yes. Implementation is scoped separately from the advisory work, and the roadmap is written to be executable rather than indicative.
The assessment, the target operating model, the roadmap and the measurement definitions. All are written to be executable rather than indicative.
